Save the Date: Monday, Dec. 9, 6 – 9pm, Southwest Garden Neighborhood Open House, at 4950 Southwest Ave.

Wednesday, Nov. 20, 6 – 8 pm, Fundraiser for the Victims of Typhoon Haiyan at The Mack, 4615 Macklind Ave, St. Louis 63109.  Please join the Missouri Asian-American Bar Association (MAABA) in efforts to raise money for victims of the recent typhoon to hit The Philippines. Suggested donation $20, but any amount is welcome. We will be donating proceeds to the American Red Cross. Cash Bar. All are welcome. Please share with your friends!  There will also be a shoe collection at this event.  Donated shoes will be sent to the Philippines.  Learn more at:

Saturday, Nov. 23, 8am – 6pm, Donate to Revive Thrift Shop, 2202 S. Vandeventer.  Every person that makes a donation during the donation drop-off will receive a coupon to use in the store. Clothes, furniture, and home-good donations are being accepted.   Mission: St. Louis (M:StL), a neighborhood transformation nonprofit, created Revive as a social enterprise, meaning all proceeds go to empowering people to transform their neighborhoods. The shop is planning on opening in early winter.  Revive Thrift shop will be a place where people from all socio-economic levels are invited to shop, volunteer and donate. It will not only be a store, but a place for people to come together and build community. A detailed donation list can be found at or, with questions and concerns.

Saturday, Nov. 23, 10 am – 2pm, Book Signing by two authors of St. Louis history at Walgreens, 2933 S. Kingshighway (at Arsenal) ; Edna Campos Gravenhorst and Joan M. Thomas.  The authors will be signing copies of Southwest Garden, Benton Park West, St. Louis 1875-1940, and St. Louis’ Big League Ball Parks, all released by Arcadia Publishing.

Saturday, Dec. 7, 9am – 1 pm, The Grinch will be at MoKaBe’s Coffeehouse and Tower Grove Creamery.  For a $7 donation to Shriners  hospital, participants can get their photo taken with the Grinch. Those who bring a toy donation for the children at Shriners Hospitals for Children can get a photo taken for only $5.  The Grinch will also be joined by the clowns from Moolah Shriners, who will be on hand to provide face-painting and balloon animals. A children’s menu will be available, and adults may enjoy delicious selections from MoKaBe’s. Tower Grove Creamery will be offering children’s size ice cream for a $1. Coloring books, activities, and holiday cheer are available to the kids for free.  Street parking is available, as well as a free parking lot located at 3500 Hartford provided by the business district.  For more information, visit with a full list of items to be donated to the hospital.
