January 26, 2021 - New Year Kick-off

Good afternoon Southwest Garden Neighbors,

Like many organizations, Covid-19 took us by surprise and slowed down some of our 2020 momentum. I know many of you were disappointed we had to cancel the annual Fundraising Trivia Night and several membership meetings. Even though we canceled some events we’ve been working diligently behind the scenes to keep things moving in 2021. Here’s a few things we’ve been working on:

Upcoming Events

We will be hosting the St. Louis City Mayoral Candidates for Q&A on February 15th. You will be able to submit questions before the event and the mayoral candidates will respond to these questions live on a Facebook livestream. We will post a flyer for the event in the next few days through Nextdoor, Facebook, and Email.

Looking to help build our neighborhood?

Southwest Garden is a large community of roughly 2500 homes and 4500 families. Connecting this many people takes a lot of work and we’d love your help! We are actively seeking folks who can volunteer 1-2 hours a week in various ways.

  1. Nextdoor Social Media interactions

  2. Email interactions

  3. Beautification committee membership

  4. Security & Safety committee membership

If you can spare an hour or two a week – drop us an email at

Important Reminder - DUES!
Annual Membership Dues are due in February so please visit the website and submit your payment. You can now submit your payment directly via Paypal by clicking HERE.

Update on Board Members
With the passing of our beloved Floyd Wright and the resignation of a few others, the board has filled vacant positions on an interim basis [per Constitution guidelines]. In April we will be holding elections which will get us back on track by electing all positions for 1 & 2 year terms. For the current list of board members, click HERE.

We’ve come up with some great mission and goal updates and we’re excited to propose those changes in the next membership meeting. You can read more about the re-organization HERE.

If you have any questions about the neighborhood feel free to email us at Thanks everyone, looking forward to seeing you at the April membership meeting.

October 25, 2020 - UPDATE: 3rd Quarter General Membership Meeting

Neighbors – We had hoped to gather for our first neighborhood meeting since January, but with the increase in Covid-19 cases and particularly hospitalizations, we are cancelling the SWGNA meeting scheduled for Monday, October 26 out of an abundance of caution. We will schedule a meeting when it is safe to do so.

In the meantime, the current board will stay active. We are working on ideas to move our organization forward financially and increase community engagement. This includes refining a list of committees to carry on the duties formerly handled by a paid director. We will post those once they are ready.

We cannot stress enough that we need more of our neighbors to become involved on the board and neighborhood committees. Our goals are many and we can only be successful with increased participation. We live in a fabulous neighborhood – let’s all contribute to keeping it that way.

October 11, 2020 - Upcoming 3rd Quarter General Membership Meeting

Mark your calendars for our 3rd quarter General Membership Meeting. Here is a link to the agenda and instructions for attending either in person or via ZOOM virtually.

This is a very important meeting as we will be voting on new Board Members as well as discussing the future of our organization. We are looking forward to your attendance and involvement!
